08 Mayıs 2025 Perşembe

Students of the Customs Management Department had the opportunity to participate in a technical visit to Mersin Port and the Mersin Free Zone. The technical program began with a comprehensive presentation delivered by the authorities of Mersin International Port (MIP). During the visit, all port processes such as cargo acceptance, storage procedures, loading-unloading operations, and digital management systems were introduced in detail. Our students had the chance to observe the daily operations of the port on-site and interact directly with operation chiefs, relevant unit managers, and numerous customs officers.

Under the academic guidance of Dr. Nuh KELEŞ and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sefa ÖZBEK, students accompanied preservation and inspection officers during their work shifts, observing critical practices such as container unloading, goods protection procedures, physical inspections, and document checks in the field. This allowed the students to enhance their ability to relate theoretical knowledge to real-world applications.

As part of the visit, the MESBAŞ Mersin Free Zone was also toured. There, a comprehensive presentation was delivered in the conference hall by Mr. Edvar MUM, General Manager of MESBAŞ, providing valuable information. The visit concluded with a tour of HDM Steel Pipe Factory, where students were able to clearly observe the relationship between production activities and foreign trade and customs procedures, thereby reinforcing their understanding of industrial and logistics integration.

This high-quality technical visit made a significant contribution to broadening the professional vision of our students and supporting them in taking more informed steps toward their career goals.
